Hi everyone, it's been a long while since my last post I know, but life happens when you're living it. But there have been so many things going on in my mind as I journeyed through my life, health wise and personal wise, but I'm back!
And the first order of business is to scratch this itch coming from the most common question I had as an ex-muslim.
“If you don’t believe in God, what’s stopping you from doing bad things?”
It’s a question many of us hear—sometimes from strangers, sometimes even from family. And honestly, it’s not always asked with malice.
Sometimes it’s just curiosity, or even concern. So let’s unpack it together, with an open mind.
The idea that morality must come from religion is a really common belief. In many cultures, including our own, it's something we grow up hearing.
But let’s think about it another way:
👉 If the only reason someone avoids doing harm is because they’re afraid of punishment, is that truly morality—or just fear-based obedience?
For those of us who don’t believe in a god (or are still figuring it out), values like kindness, fairness, and honesty still matter deeply. We don’t help someone across the street or comfort a crying friend because we’re chasing heavenly points—we do it because we care.
