A Journey of Service, Gratitude, and Rediscovery Last Saturday [ 29/11 ] ,
I received the Pillar of Strength Award 2025 from the Mindful Community and I am deeply humbled. When I moved back to Singapore after more than 25 years in Malaysia, I came home feeling a little lost. I could not return to nursing because my license had expired, and the process of reinstatement felt too heavy and complicated. Yet, inside me, there was still a strong desire to serve. I knew I still had something to give.
Then I came across the Mindfulness Program (before its called the Caregivers Alliance). I went through the course, then the training programme, and before I knew it, they trusted me enough to begin as a volunteer trainer. That opportunity changed everything.Every session, every group, every new face opened another doorway for me to understand our community better.
It has been an eye-opening and deeply enriching journey.Caregivers are the invisible heroes. We often focus on the patient but the caregiver is the one who carries the emotional burden quietly, day after day.
To all caregivers, I want to say this: you are the silent heroes. Please reach out to the Mindful Community. These programmes exist because you matter. There are people who care about you, simply because you care for someone you love. This award is not just mine it belongs to every caregiver I have met, every story shared, every tear shed, and every moment of courage that I have witnessed.I believe strongly in public education and resilience-building.
Mindful Community’s programmes align deeply with these ideals, and I am grateful for the trust they have given me to continue serving. There are many others more deserving than me, and that is why I receive this award with humility. Thank you, Mindful Community, for the recognition and for allowing me to grow, to learn, and to contribute in my own small way.
Here’s to kindness, awareness, and the quiet strength of caregivers everywhere.
