Description: Commissioned in 2004 at the Bangsar Art Gallery, this vibrant oil acrylic painting by Othman captures the raw spirit of the Malaysian jungle — and its most iconic inhabitant, the wild rooster.
Affectionately titled The Jungle Chicken, the piece portrays a rooster poised proudly on a fallen branch, framed by dense tropical foliage. There’s a quiet power in its stance — alert, regal, and untamed — echoing both survival and self-assurance.
The work’s realism draws you into its lush environment: every feather, every leaf rendered with textured precision. It’s a celebration of life’s wild rhythm — of strength that thrives even in solitude.

Collector’s Note
I commissioned this painting in 2004 at the Bangsar Art Gallery, drawn to its earthy humour and the artist’s attention to detail. There’s something beautifully honest about the rooster — proud, unpretentious, and utterly alive. I’ve always felt it represents the spirit of resilience: a creature that doesn’t need to roar to command presence.
