The seven Lotus flowers

Artist: Job Bagul, Malaysian Batik Painter

Collection: Private Collection – Available for Acquisition

Description:
I first met Job Bagul at the Kraft Centre in Kuala Lumpur, where I often spent long hours at his studio learning about batik painting and immersed in his art. Over time, we became friends. I would occasionally sit and watch him work quietly observing his focus, patience, and devotion to his craft. It was during this period that I commissioned The Seven Lotus, captivated by both his artistry and the profound symbolism of the lotus flower.

The piece depicts seven lotus blooms each in a different stage of awakening floating serenely across still waters. In Hindu and Buddhist traditions, the lotus holds sacred meaning: a symbol of purity rising from the mud of existence. The murkier the water, the more radiant the bloom a truth that speaks deeply to our own lives. When we endure hardship and emerge stronger, we too become like the lotus: unsoiled, luminous, and whole.
